The curcuminoids, glycosides, terpenoids and flavonoids of Haridra inhibits enzyme HPA, increases glucose metabolism, potentiates insulin activity and lowers blood sugar. The aqueous extract is safe and effective in diabetes and its complications.

The phytoconstituents are known to inhibit the histamine release and non- specific & specific mast cell- dependent allergic reactions. Haridra suppresses IgE & IgG antibody response & reduces inflammatory cytokines and ameliorates gastric injury.

Curcumin & volatile oil of Haridra inhibits phospholipase, lipoxygenase, COX-2, prostaglandins, NO, tumour necrosis factor and interleukin- 12, which are involved in inflammation. Haridra decreases the incidence, delay the onset, and reduce the extent of the inflammation of joints.

Haridra has skin tonic, anti- inflammatory, anti-infective and anti-microbial properties. It protects skin and improves complexion. It inhibits nonspecific and specific mast cell-dependent allergic reactions & useful in sepsis due to suppression of pro- inflammatory cytokine.
