Plant insulin Polypeptide-p & other constituents optimise glucose by increasing its uptake and glycogen synthesis in the liver, muscles, and fat cells. It improves insulin release, repair/promote new growth of beta cells and increases insulin sensitivity.

Karavellaka activates liver enzymes glutathione S-transferase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase, which results in modulatory effect on enzymes of biotransformation & detoxification system. The aqueous extract is effective in treating hepato- biliary disorders.

Lectin binding is non-protein specific, and hence Karavellaka is credited with immune-stimulatory activity by linking receptors that modulate the immune system, thereby stimulating receptors. It is effective in the management of low immunity.
